Dear Band Students and Parents,

Welcome to the East Rutherford High School Marching Cavaliers!  One of the most exciting experiences in which you can be a part!  Now, more than ever, we have information to justify why we participate in this demanding, yet rewarding, activity.  Experts have concluded that the study of music helps with spatial reasoning, test taking, and overall quality of life!  Factor in social skills, emotional development, leadership training, group interaction, aesthetic perception, music-making, and the discipline of being in a band program, and I can't understand why anyone would not want to be involved.  The ultimate goal is a lifelong understanding and appreciation for high-quality music and music-making.

This e-portfolio was created as another way to access your handbook.  Everyone should read the information in the handbook, even veterans.  Some of the information has changed, so make sure you are informed.  For those new to the program, this is the "band bible."  All policies and information associated with the program are located here, so most questions about the program could be answered by consulting the handbook, and policies will be adjusted from year to year as the need arises to clarify issues within the program.

This past year was full of successes and growth across the program and there were many indications that the program will only continue to grow and prosper.  I am honored to be your band director and I look forward to working with each and every one of you and hope that you are just as excited as I am about the future of this ensemble.
