EAST RUTHERFORD HIGH SCHOOL

MARCHING CAVALIERS

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

Unfortunately, the operation and maintenance of a band program is a costly endeavor; more so than the state, county, or school can provide in full.  Please note that any financial obligation that is not paid to the school will result in the student not attaining their diploma upon graduation. The following is a list, with explanations, of the financial obligations you will be responsible for during your child’s tenure as a member of the East Rutherford High School Band Program:

  1. Band Fee of $100 per year**

This fee will pay for:

  • The Band T-shirt and hat that are part of the away game/summer uniform.
  • Assist in travel expenses, competition/festival registrations.
  • School owned equipment purchases and repairs.
  • Uniform repairs
  • Any other costs associated with the purchase or production of music and drill.

2.  Marching Band Shoes

These shoes may only need to be purchased once during the high school career of your student.  As long as they are comfortable, fit well, and are still in good shape; the same pair may be worn multiple years.  The cost is approximately $35 per pair for Band students and $30 per pair for Colorguard Students.

3.  Marching Band Gloves

These gloves are part of the uniform and it is recommended to purchase two pairs for the season as they tend to degrade by the end of the marching season.  The cost is approximately $5 per pair for band students.  Percussion and Front Ensemble (pit) do not wear gloves.  Color guard students may want/need to purchase gloves depending on the equipment they will be using during the show.  This will be determined by our Color Guard Instructors.  The approximate cost of these gloves are $10-$15 per pair.

4.  Bibs (optional)

These are the pants that go with the Marching Band Uniform.  It is not required, but if you wish you may purchase your own pair of Bibs and keep them throughout your tenure.  The approximate cost is $60.

5.  Repairs of Personal Instruments

In most cases the Band Director will be able to fix minor problems with the horn, however, if it is a personal horn, then the student and their parent will be responsible for the repair cost if the instrument must be sent to be repaired.  A loaner horn will be provided if available.

6.  Damages to School Owned Instruments

If the student is using a school owned instrument and damage occurs through negligence on the part of the student, then the student and parent will be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement, as stated in the instrument contract. Normal wear and tear is excluded from this clause.

**If there is an issue with the payment of the $100 Band Fee, Please see Mr. Maples to set up an agreement of a more managable payment plan.
